How to back up, export, or restore your data
How to use Data Protection options for backups, Excel exports, imports, restores, and recalculation.
Common symptoms
- You want to protect your FolioSync data before changing phones.
- You need an Excel export for review or support.
- You restored data and want analytics recalculated.
What to try first
- 1Open Settings > Data Protection.
- 2Use backup options when you want a restorable copy of app data.
- 3Use Export to Excel when you need spreadsheet review of portfolios, holdings, transactions, cash, dividends, or calculations.
- 4Use Restore from Backup when moving data to a new phone or recovering from a reinstall.
- 5Use import options only with the expected file format and review the preview before saving.
- 6Use Recalculate Analytics after a restore or large import if totals, charts, or summaries need to refresh.
- 7Keep a recent backup before making bulk changes or resetting a device.
When opening a ticket
- If restore fails, attach the backup file and screenshot of the error.
- If exported values look wrong, include the export and mention the affected portfolio, stock, fund, or date range.
