How to add a stock transaction
How to record buy, sell, dividend, fee, deposit, withdrawal, bonus, split, and right-share entries.
Common symptoms
- You want to add a buy or sell manually.
- You need to record dividends, broker fees, deposits, or withdrawals.
- You want to add bonus shares, a stock split, or right shares.
What to try first
- 1Open the portfolio where the transaction belongs.
- 2Use the add transaction action from the portfolio or holding screen.
- 3Choose the transaction type that matches the entry: buy, sell, dividend, fee, deposit, withdrawal, or corporate action.
- 4For buy and sell entries, enter stock symbol, quantity, price, broker charges, and date.
- 5For sell entries, review the CGT field. FolioSync can calculate it, but you can adjust it if your broker statement shows a different value.
- 6For dividends, enter the shares, dividend amount, WHT, zakat if applicable, and date.
- 7For bonus, split, or right-share entries, use the corporate-action fields instead of entering them as normal buys.
- 8Save the entry, then review holding quantity, average price, cash, and profit/loss.
When opening a ticket
- Send the portfolio name, stock symbol, transaction type, date, expected value, and screenshot if the saved entry looks wrong.
- Attach an Excel export if several transactions are involved.
