How Google Drive backup and restore work

How Google Drive backups, manual uploads, automatic schedules, retention, and restore preparation work in FolioSync.

Common symptoms

  • You want FolioSync backups saved to Google Drive.
  • You want recurring Drive backups without exporting manually.
  • You want to restore from a Google Drive backup on a new or reset phone.

What to try first

  1. 1Open Settings > Data Protection.
  2. 2Use Google Drive or cloud backup options when you want backup files available outside the local device.
  3. 3Sign in to the Google account where you want FolioSync backups to be stored.
  4. 4Use Backup Now or manual backup when you want to create and upload a fresh backup immediately.
  5. 5Choose an automatic Drive backup schedule if you want recurring backups.
  6. 6Set the retention count based on how many older Drive backups you want to keep.
  7. 7Use View Backup Files where available to review saved Drive backups.
  8. 8Before restoring, confirm the backup date and file belong to the FolioSync data set you want to recover.
  9. 9When restoring from Drive, download/select the backup, follow the restore confirmation, and wait for the restore process to finish.
  10. 10After restore, review portfolios, holdings, mutual funds, transactions, reports, and notification settings.

When opening a ticket

  • Send the backup type, Google Drive sign-in state, last backup time, screenshot, app version, and error message if backup or restore fails.
  • Attach the backup file only through the support portal or official support email if requested.
