How Google Drive backup and restore work
How Google Drive backups, manual uploads, automatic schedules, retention, and restore preparation work in FolioSync.
Common symptoms
- You want FolioSync backups saved to Google Drive.
- You want recurring Drive backups without exporting manually.
- You want to restore from a Google Drive backup on a new or reset phone.
What to try first
- 1Open Settings > Data Protection.
- 2Use Google Drive or cloud backup options when you want backup files available outside the local device.
- 3Sign in to the Google account where you want FolioSync backups to be stored.
- 4Use Backup Now or manual backup when you want to create and upload a fresh backup immediately.
- 5Choose an automatic Drive backup schedule if you want recurring backups.
- 6Set the retention count based on how many older Drive backups you want to keep.
- 7Use View Backup Files where available to review saved Drive backups.
- 8Before restoring, confirm the backup date and file belong to the FolioSync data set you want to recover.
- 9When restoring from Drive, download/select the backup, follow the restore confirmation, and wait for the restore process to finish.
- 10After restore, review portfolios, holdings, mutual funds, transactions, reports, and notification settings.
When opening a ticket
- Send the backup type, Google Drive sign-in state, last backup time, screenshot, app version, and error message if backup or restore fails.
- Attach the backup file only through the support portal or official support email if requested.
