How Auto Dividends work
What Auto Dividends does, how it creates dividend or bonus entries, and how to configure it safely.
Common symptoms
- You want FolioSync to help create dividend or bonus entries.
- You want to know what Auto Dividends changes in your portfolio.
- Auto dividend processing created, skipped, or did not create an entry.
What to try first
- 1Auto Dividends is an optional feature. It is off by default so transactions are not created unless you choose to enable it.
- 2When enabled, FolioSync can help create stock dividend transactions and bonus share transactions from announcement information available in the app.
- 3The safest setup is to keep Process Only Held Stocks enabled, so FolioSync only acts on stocks that exist in your portfolio.
- 4Auto-Create Dividends controls cash dividend transaction creation. Auto-Create Bonus Shares controls bonus share transaction creation.
- 5Notify on New Announcements controls whether FolioSync alerts you when matching announcements are found.
- 6Minimum Holding Quantity prevents processing for very small or accidental holdings.
- 7After an auto-created entry is added, review transaction history, holding quantity, cash, average price, and dividend totals.
- 8If an announcement is unclear or does not match your portfolio, add the dividend or bonus manually instead.
When opening a ticket
- Send the stock symbol, announcement date, your Auto Dividends settings, and screenshots of the expected and actual transaction state.
- Attach a backup or Excel export if an auto-created entry affected totals.
